Running and Scheduling Reports

Requirements for generating and viewing reports

Before you generate a report, make sure that you allow pop-ups in your browser.

Generating a report

Access through:

Reports Menu

Available to:

All Access Rights Levels

To generate and view a report:

1.From the Reports menu, select the report.

NotePencil-smallThe content of any report you generate is restricted to the access you are given to view infrastructure elements. For example, if you have been given access to one datacenter only, you are able to print reports for that datacenter only and not reports for other datacenters.

2.If required and if available, select a reporting period. See Using Date Filters for Reporting and Searching for details on each option in the By Period drop-down menu.

3.If required and if available, select a location to identify the part of the virtualized infrastructure to report on by clicking vm-16x16, expanding the tree, and clicking OK.

4.If required and if available, select an option from the Group By drop-down menu.

5.In the Report Generator pane, enter any information you want to record in the Comment field.

This comment appears on the list of reports and on the actual report itself.

3.To generate the report using filters, click Add Advanced Filters and select from the drop-down menus that are available.

NotePencil-smallNot all reports use advanced filters.

As soon as you select a filter, the next drop-down menu becomes available. Continue with your selections until you choose or enter all the options for that filter.

To add another filter, click Plus+Sign. To remove a filter, click Minus-Sign.

An example (of the Guest OS Summary Report) in the following illustration displays some of the options that are available in the Report Generator. The options that are available change depending on the report you selected and on how you have configured vCommander.

Enter a name for the report template. vCommander will save a report template with this name. You can access the template later under Tools > Report Templates.

4.On the Notification page:

Select a report template from the Report Template drop-down menu.

Complete the email details as required. Separate multiple email addresses with semi-colons.

You can edit the scheduled task at any time to enable or disable it.

To schedule the frequency and the time for the task, select when you want the task to occur: daily, weekly, monthly, or on weekdays. You can also specify that the task be performed only once (in which case the task will be removed from the Scheduled Tasks list after it has been run).

If you selected a weekly or monthly frequency, select the day of the week or the month from the drop-down menu.

The scheduled task appears in the list of scheduled tasks.
